In-service programs can be designed to meet the needs of your school or daycare. Additional components may include Muriel’s coming into classrooms to model and/or mentor. An effective model is to have teachers come together to watch a lesson followed by a facilitated discussion.

For teachers of daycare, pre-school and early elementary grades.
1 ˝- 3 hour workshops

Moving Stories off the Page- Storytelling for Teachers: Muriel will bring storytelling “games” and practical experiences to this fun-filled workshop. Leave with a story to share and more confidence to keep bringing those stories off the page.
Perfect for required continuing education credits or in-service offerings.
For teachers of any age students.
1 ˝-2 hour workshop

Empower Student Storytellers: Muriel will give you practical information about storytelling and how you can empower students to tell stories. See how story can enrich your social studies, math, science, language arts and character education programs.

Teaching Comprehension Strategies to Young Children: We will look at how we currently help students comprehend texts and look at ways to connect text to self, to other texts and to the world. We will study ways to help students visualize, learning structures of different genre, and more. Through facilitated discussions, participants will share ways to create more literate classrooms while at the same time explicitly teaching students what they need to know.
For teachers of grades k-3.
This is best structured as a 15 hour in-service course but may be adapted for your needs. This can be offered through your local Teacher Center.

Enrich the Star Lab© Experience: Do you take advantage of Star Lab to simulate the skies at night? This workshop will help you find stories from different cultures to enrich your students’ experience in that wonder world of stars, sun and moon.
2 or three hour session. This may be offered through your local Teacher Center.

Muriel is happy to speak with you about developing programs to specifically meet your needs.
