Let’s Pretend: Muriel leads children through a series of theater games and tells folktales from different cultures. Children role play and participate in interactively retelling a familiar tale.
Envisioning and Re-visioning Fairy Tales and Folk Tales: Muriel involves the students in active listening to stories and engaging in storytelling activities that foster listening and retelling. Exploring plot, character, setting and sequence, each group prepares its own retelling of a tale and has a chance to “perform”. Muriel often incorporates masks and simple puppets.
A Wondering World- Myths and Legends: By creating stories and retelling them, people throughout history have responded to essential questions of life and the world around them. Muriel shares some of these stories and helps students create original tales in response to questions they wonder about. This program is adaptable to various cultural and environmental themes.
Student Ambassadors for Character Education: These special storytellers discover stories with important messages to teach and learn techniques to effectively tell their favorite tales to younger listeners. Muriel is happy to speak with you about developing programs to specifically meet your needs. Correlated With State Education Standards and Local District Standards.
