Mining Memories: Discovering, crafting, and telling personal and family stories: Muriel uses graphic organizers, role playing, photos, and more to help students “mine memories” and create memoir and family stories to share with others. She interweaves techniques from process writing with skills of the
storyteller.
A Special Woman in My Life: Muriel clearly values each individual as she helps students develop interview, writing and performance skills to create a “gift of the heart.” Each student focuses on an important woman in his/her life telling a story using words, photography, artifacts.
Storytelling Live- Storytelling Clubs: Muriel brings together small groups of youngsters, teens, or adults to develop storytelling clubs to meet each groups interest. Student tellers may decide to perform at a one-time performance or on an ongoing basis.
Sharing the Past and the Present: Muriel brings senior citizens and young children together to share stories of the past and the present. Adult mentors help the children gather stories from these interactions. Amazing pieces and relationships often develop.
Write Away! Writing Workshop Programs for All Ages: Muriel comes into classrooms for varying amounts of time to conduct writing workshops. Programs usually culminate in “published writing” presented at a “publishing party.” Create Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or Grandparent’s Day poetry anthologies or other writing genres. Muriel is happy to speak with you about developing programs to specifically meet your needs. Correlated With State Education Standards and Local District Standards.
